Russ Hewitt (Instrumental)
It has been quite a year for guitar virtuoso Russ Hewitt with his current CD, ‘Cielo Nocturno’, showing all the signs of becoming a run-away success. Shimmering with the rumba flamenco rhythms and lightning guitar runs that have become trademarks of Hewitt’s distinctive style, the album includes a stellar line up of returning musicians including percussionist Raphael Padilla (Miami Sound Machine, Chris Isaak), drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr. (Santana, Steve Winwood, Chicago), bass player Bob Parr (Cher, Barry White), guitarist Alfredo Caceres (Gipsy Kings All-Stars) and most notably Larry Carlton who features on the delightfully easy grooving ‘North of Home’. The radio single featuring Larry Carlton was a mainstay on stations worldwide. Based in Dallas, TX Hewitt is one of the region’s most well-known proponents of this genre.
Judith Miller (Jazz)
"I'm a native Texas singer/songwriter composing mostly jazz based music in Leander Texas. I have played in Central Texas since 1986 from Kerrville to Sequin from Dallas to San Antonio. I did a Route 66 tour a couple of years back playing along the way from Austin to St Louis. Most of the music posted here is original work. I write the lyrics, the melodies and collaborate with other musicians on arrangements. Vocally, I have an eclectic style blending jazz, blues, spirituals, country and pop. My music has strong influences from many genres.I love the sound of Claire Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Bonnie Raitt, Nina Simon, Etta James and Aretha Franklin.
"Over the years I've supported a number of causes...Wounded Warriors, Make a Wish Foundation, Pick with Austin, Lance Armstrong Foundation, Healing Heroes, Angel Heart Foundation and have played for many of their events. My all time favorite is a Central Texas group, "Pick with Austin" They rescue young people who suffer from severe depression and attempts at suicide by providing a musical outlet and teaching the kids to use the music to deal with their challenges.Recently I was nominated for the Grammy Recording Academy, so I am awaiting notification on my nomination.
"A wise man I once met in Austin said "Music should go right through you, leave some of itself inside you, and take some of you with it when it leaves." Henry Threadgill from Zen Guitar
"My hope is that when you listen to my music you will have that experience."
